While the forward pass was used as a trick play dating back to 1906, the first player credited as revolutionizing the downfield assault is George Roudebush, quarterback for the Denison University Big Red. Presented is an exceptional gathering of twelve sepia-toned pictures of Roudebush and his teammates while starring for the school’s baseball team. The 2-1/2 x 7-1/2 images have survived the century with remarkable clarity and captivating early baseball imagery. The photographs display minimal foxing and varying degrees of perimeter wear, with light pencil identifiers on the blank reverse. Subjects include George Roudebush (first forward pass, professional football with Cincy Celts, Canton Bulldogs and Dayton Triangles), David Reece (receiver of first forward pass, professional football with Dayton Triangles) and Lester Black (Denison Hall of Fame).
